NFL Teams Are Using Google Glass To Prepare For 2014 Season

You can do all kinds of neat things with Google Glass, such as using it to take pictures and video, get directions, view the weather, and see all of your calendar appointments for the day. You can also use it to help become a better NFL team - at least one NFL team is hoping that’s the case. It has been reported that the Minnesota Vikings have been taking full advantage of Google Glass during their preseason to help them better prepare for the 2014 NFL season. Last season didn’t go so well for the Vikings, so any help Glass can give them would sure be an improvement.

I may be a bit behind the times, but when I first heard about Google Glass, never did I dream the NFL would be using it. But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense, especially when it comes to television broadcasting. Just think about some of the unique camera angles only Glass could provide! Obviously, with the expense (and fragile nature) of Google Glass, every player on the field probably wouldn’t be wearing a pair, but I could seriously imagine at least the quarterbacks donning them.

If you’re like me, you might be initially wondering how Google Glass could help an NFL team prepare for their season. For one thing, Glass could be used to help get a unique picture on the field for the coach, especially from a quarterback’s angle. It could also help a quarterback go back and view footage in a way not possible before so he can see things from angles previously unavailable.
It remains to be seen how much Glass will be used in the actual 2014 season.
